Monster Bookmarks

I apologise to anyone who went searching for our Blog this Saturday... fortunately our Western Australian Branch is more organised than our Vic Blog Girl and we have a great tutorial for this week... (and isn't that the great thing about friends, someone always steps in)....How to make Monster Bookmarks (They are so cute!)

Thank you Jodi!

Thanks to Pinterest, I now have a few hundred idea’s pinned to boards.  Now that I am writing for the Blog, I am feeling guilty about my lack of crafting.  Most of the ideas are for cards, so I may have a post or two coming as I make some.

However, the ‘Craft Idea’ board is also exploding with ideas.  Some will take a bit of thinking about, others are quick and easy.  Today’s idea looked nice and easy.  My children both do readers at school and my daughter’s book is updated daily.  It can be time consuming for the teachers or parent helpers to have to flick through 22 books to write things down.  Both children are also big fans of some non-fiction books and we are reading some larger books now they are older.

Book marks are easy, and most people have some (or just use scraps of paper).  But when I saw the Monster Book Marks, I knew I wanted to make them.

1I began by marking three 2.5” squares.

2Then I drew a diagonal line (as shown) colouring in the waste triangles.

I I cut out the white template and transferred it to cardstock.

4Then using a bone folder I scored lines making the two triangles and square.

I I folded the two triangles over to form the section that will go over the page.  Then I cut out a coloured square, a plain coloured triangle, eyes and teeth.  I stuck the square down with glue.  Then I stuck the teeth down, before joining the two triangles together.  After which I added the eyes and my little Monster Book Markers were finished!

6I made multiple Monster Book Markers as I was going so there will be no fighting☺
